Perimenopause is the natural transition period leading up to menopause. It often begins in a woman’s 40s but can start as early as the mid-30s. During this time, hormone levels — particularly estrogen — can fluctuate, which may lead to changes in menstrual patterns and other physical or emotional changes.
Every woman’s experience is different, but some commonly reported signs include irregular or heavier periods, changes in sleep, mood shifts, and hot flushes or night sweats.
Menopause is defined as the point when a woman has gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period, marking the end of natural reproductive years. Most women reach menopause in their late 40s to early 50s, often after experiencing perimenopause.
Symptoms or changes linked to menopause can vary widely. Some women report changes such as sleep disruptions, joint discomfort, mood fluctuations, or cognitive changes like brain fog, which may occur before, during, or after the transition into menopause.
Hormone therapy uses clinically approved hormones to reduce menopause-related symptoms such as hot flushes, sleep disturbance, vaginal dryness, mood changes, and more. These treatments come in forms like tablets, patches, gels, or creams, and your clinician will help choose the most suitable option for you.
Hormone therapy is effective for many women, but it must be personalised. Your clinician will assess your symptoms, medical history, and health needs to determine whether hormone therapy is the right choice for you.
You can start by taking our optional menopause awareness quiz to better understand common signs and stages. This tool is for general education and does not replace medical advice.
When you’re ready, you can book a video consultation with a licensed physician experienced in midlife care. During the consultation, your health history and concerns will be reviewed. If appropriate, the doctor may discuss possible care options, which could include personalised hormone therapy or other medically guided therapies, subject to prescription.
If treatment is prescribed, it is prepared and dispensed by our licensed compounding pharmacy and delivered directly to you.
Yes, we do! Menopause Asia offers nationwide care. Our teleconsultation services are available to women across Peninsular (West) Malaysia and East Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan).
